Play-shoots evolved from my love and fascination with watching children at play. Having spent time in a number of child-led, free-play environments I began to notice how different children looked to the standard school photo type technique. I already shoot in a very documentary style but these sessions are 100% focused on the children. I often supply a location or some loose parts but other than that they are left to explore/play freely. The results of this approach are geniune, authentic images of your child/ren as they are now - at this exact stage of development - perhaps they are discovering their gross motor skills; lifting, climbing and jumping. Perhaps they are deeply sensory and love to plunge their hands into water, sand or mud. Or perhaps they are feeling very tactile and creative, building towers or fairy gardens. Whatever it is that makes them unique is what I aim to capture and provide as a set of still images to look back on for years to come.
